What a beautiful day for a Lake Hodges engagement session! Clear skies, warm fields of wild yarrow, and soft green grass perfect for laying down with a good book.
I’ve been a photographer for several years now, but I never really wanted to delve into the world of wedding photography. I’ve often joked wedding photography is where music photographers go to die. Nevertheless, when Chris and Kendall asked me to shoot their engagement photos, I said “sure why not?” Never did I imagined falling so madly in love with this type of photography.
First of all, Chris and Kendall were just so much fun to work with. I’ve known Chris for quite some time but we hadn’t seen each other in years. It was great reconnecting under such happy circumstances and I couldn’t imagine a lovelier person than Kendall for his bride-to-be. We trekked out to my favorite San Diego location, Lake Hodges, around “magic hour” and explored through the reeds along the lake. We found a private little area perfect for an intimate shoot. Chris and Kendall are not a PDA type of couple, so asking them to kiss for the camera almost always resulted in fits of laughter. This, of course, worked out beautifully for capturing the genuine love these two share.
